The growth of large, international corporations has been accompanied by a demand for quicker, more condensed information. DaimlerChrysler responded to this trend as early as 1996 by creating its "war room", which serves as a central repository for information that can be processed and retrieved for the Executive Board and managers. The merger with the former Chrysler Corporation, together with other major investment projects, has also created the need for a central overview of all activities.

Using a monitoring and reporting solution based on the information logistics product project-portal (a Lotus Domino-based iq application), several hundred projects are automatically tracked and the information compiled in reports on a regular basis. The solution helps record the progress made in each phase of the project and supports the measured evaluation of problems and project status.
