TÜV NORD GRUPPE, Hamburg Hannover, has purchased a license for the maintenance of SAP master data with the caatoosee iq-server. The purpose-designed "iq-server for SAP® CAM" allows SAP users to eliminate errors and duplicates in master data and prevent them from occurring in the future.

In a pilot phase at TÜV NORD GRUPPE, based on an initial 60,000 master data records, iq-server for SAP® CAM identified potential savings of around 300 man-hours compared with the conventional method of manual checking. "Thanks to the caatoosee iq-server for SAP® CAM, we are able to accelerate our information processes," says Thomas Kersten, Head of Central Customer Data Maintenance at TÜV NORD GRUPPE. In the past, staff at TÜV NORD GRUPPE, which is part of Germany's technical surveillance association, had to perform manual checking for duplicates an extremely time-consuming and expensive procedure. Duplicate checking for each data set, which currently still takes approximately two minutes on average, can be reduced to a maximum of 15 seconds with the help of caatoosee's cutting-edge software solution. Gunnar Thaden, CIO at TÜV NORD GRUPPE, is aware of the benefits: "We are confident that caatoosee's solution will result in a fast return on investment."

By deploying iq-server for SAP® CAM, TÜV NORD GRUPPE will also be providing its employees with more user-friendly technology. Currently, roughly 800 to 1000 users at TÜV NORD GRUPPE have access to customer master data. Due to the high level of error tolerance provided by the caatoosee iq-server, users will now be able to receive qualified results even when they misspell names or specific search queries.

At the same time, TÜV NORD GRUPPE will be using iq-server for SAP® CAM to ensure the rapid migration of around one million customer master data from six existing systems to mySAP CRM. This legacy data has to be checked for possible duplicates. With the help of the caatoosee iq-server, the data records can be cleansed fifty percent faster than in the past, thus facilitating rapid migration of the existing systems.

When it comes to duplicate checking, TÜV NORD GRUPPE can choose between two approaches. The batch method (all data sets are processed in a single operation), for example, is perfect when it comes to checking legacy data for possible duplicates. The dialog method, on the other hand, is designed to prevent the subsequent storage of duplicates: as soon as a data set is entered, it is automatically aligned with existing master data. The user is notified if similar records or duplicates have been identified.
