acquires interest in TeraPort, an engineering specialist

, a specialist in data networking and information logistics listed on the Neuer Markt, has acquired an interest in TeraPort GmbH (www.teraport.de) through a strategic 10% holding. TeraPort's principal business is services, portal solutions, and the provision of external computing capacity (Application Service Providing) in technical engineering applications.

Through its engineering Network Application Providing (e-NAP), the company offers access to technical simulation software via the Internet, or the corporate intranet, for enterprises that require such solutions in the research and development of complex industrial products.

This cooperation enables to extend its expertise in implementing vertical platforms in the technical engineering application sector. "These days in many business areas development work, technical simulations, and complex calculation processes are carried out by external engineering service providers," explains Guido Alt, Chairman of 's executive board. "In the future we will be able to link these experts closely with their clients by making use of portals and Web-based platforms. TeraPort's technical know-how and caatoosee's expertise in networking will result in the generation of attractive solutions in a rapidly growing market."

caatoosee further expects its own services in the Net-based Application Providing sector to benefit from this cooperation with TeraPort. "Development and simulation processes require a complex, heterogeneous IT environment, and supreme high-performance systems," explained Dr. Andy Rebetzky, Managing Director and founder of TeraPort. "We have built just such an infrastructure in our Internet Compute Center (ICC) in Munich, to which our customers can gain access via Engineering portals (e-portals)." Enterprises can use the external Application Service Provider (ASP) to perform difficult calculations, such as those required in the simulation of crash behavior in automobile models, and thus markedly reduce the overhead for their IT infrastructure.

TeraPort's areas of core expertise are Net-based Application Providing, Research & Development (R&D), and IT-Services. In those areas TeraPort focuses on the technical engineering applications market segment as well as on simulation and calculation environments. In three locations: Stuttgart, Munich, and Gothenburg, Sweden TeraPort is currently employing 30 specialist, of which two thirds are providing multiple years of experience in the engineering sector.

, which has been listed on the Neuer Markt since September 20, 2000 [Security ID Number ] is an information logistics and data networking specialist, linking enterprises, markets, and media. caatoosee organizes, connects and markets vertical platforms for installation and expansion of networks inside and outside of a corporation. caatoosee supports this by offering information and business services on these platforms.
