caatoosee announces new iq-server release

- Categorization accelerates information processes
- Enhanced functionality for users and administrators

Leonberg, December 6, 2002

Information logistics specialist has unveiled a new version of its information qualifying software. iq-server 3.5 now enables companies to manage their enterprise-wide information processes faster and more efficiently, which makes it even easier for users and administrators to operate and deploy. The full range of information management activities, e.g. the integration of disparate data sources or the streamlining of processes, can be conducted without any specialist programming skills, thanks to a new graphical user interface. Thus, costs can be reduced, and the quality of data and processes can be improved. In addition, iq-server 3.5 now also supports the automatic categorization of information, structured data and documents. Once qualified, the information is delivered to enterprise information portals, made accessible via a browser, or forwarded directly to other applications such as CRM and ERP systems. The process of integrating the solution within Client/Server applications such as SAP R/3 has also been improved considerably. Based on this enhanced functionality, filtered data can also be utilized directly in other applications, such as CRM and ERP systems.

"By leveraging our software, our customers are taking a huge step closer to becoming a 'real-time company'," says Jan Tenné, responsible for Software Products. He continues: "With iq-server 3.5, similarities and related information can be identified at the indexing stage. And this 'intelligent indexing' opens up a host of new opportunities in customer service and support, for example. You can use it not just to forward a customers e-mail to the person responsible, but at the same time to measure and evaluate customer satisfaction on a daily basis."

caatoosee's iq-server 3.5 comes equipped with two different indexing options, which have been designed with the express purpose of reducing costs by achieving superior utilization of computer resources. If the main focus is on avoiding data overload and maximizing systems capacity, users should opt for two-step indexing, where data is imported during off-peak periods. If, on the other hand, rapid indexing is the prime concern, the recommended choice is one-step indexing, which involves transferring the data from the source to the index in one step. The "actor" (iq-server software module) responsible for transferring, converting and forwarding information receives the relevant page with notification of the change at the same time. Both options can be controlled via the central management console.

The tasks of monitoring, starting, stopping and re-installing the iq-server components are all completed centrally using the new management console, which features a graphical user interface. The input of commands has been replaced by simple click-and-drag functionality, thus making operation faster and more efficient particularly in distributed systems.

The new automatic categorization process adds a new dimension to iq-server 3.5. It means that one can automatically sort unstructured information such as e-mails and Word documents according to predefined criteria and qualify it faster. So if a user created a category with the title "Competition", the iq-server would automatically store all documents relating to competitors and their products in this category. Coupled with the existing capability of identifying similar information and duplicate entries, this new feature has transformed the product into a truly comprehensive set of tools for qualifying and maintaining data. The functions can be integrated with the information processes as required using the graphical user console.

caatoosee's iq-server is also able to recognize Greek and Cyrillic characters.

caatoosee iq-server 3.5 is currently available for platforms such as Windows, Sun Solaris and Linux. It can be combined with different Web application servers (such as IBM WebSphere and BEA Weblogic), relational database systems (e.g. IBM DB/2 and Oracle 9i) and messaging systems (such as IBM WebSphereMQ and Tibco ActiveEnterprise). Interfaces (APIs) are available for the programming languages JAVA and C++. In addition, COM objects can be supplied; they can be implemented in applications based on Visual Basic and Visual C++.
