New caatoosee software boasts error tolerance and fuzzy matching / iq-server 3.0 compares data from various systems and databases / Web services already supported
Hanover/Leonberg, 12 March caatoosee, a specialist in information logistics, is showcasing new software products and solutions for "fuzzy" searching and the identification of duplicates at this year's CeBIT 2002. The software accesses the full range of a company's internal and external data sources. Similar to the human brain, this cutting-edge technology is able to identify similarities between data and display the results to users. It even tolerates incorrect or incomplete entries or data. Aided by this state-of-the-art functionality, an online shopper, for instance, can enter "Shakspeere" as an author's name and still be presented with a complete list of the bard's literary offerings. caatoosee will be exhibiting these and other areas of application for so-called information qualification (iq) at the partner stands of IBM (Hall 4, Booth A 12/A 04), Microsoft (Hall 4, Booth A 38) and Scopeland (Hall 3, Booth E 46). In addition, caatoosee will be represented in Hall 11 at the stand of Gesellschaft für internationale wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit Baden-Württemberg mbH, a regional agency for economic cooperation (Booth F 24).

iq-server 3.0 taps into various data sources The new Version 3.0 of "iq-server" has a string of interesting features, including the ability to access the full range of data sources available to a company both internally and externally. The software is able to identify changes to stored data and can even take things a step further by matching this data against predefined patterns and processing it in accordance with a user's wishes. Thus, users are guaranteed filtered information from the plethora of data available. "iq-server" can access both structured sources, such as databases, and unstructured sources, such as file systems and separate documents e-mails, for instance contained within these systems.

Instead of requiring an additional portal, iq-server is able to deliver the information to the required destination. caatoosee's software offering is able to present information through major enterprise information portals or via a proprietary browser-based interface. Alternatively, this so-called "qualified information" can also be directed to separate applications. Sporting a highly flexible architecture, caatoosee's software solution allows users to retrieve information whenever they require it. Both push and pull concepts can be implemented. In other words, information can be made available at specific times or as soon as changes to the stored data are identified.
Company intranets, enterprise information portals or duplicate alignment within various applications and data pools are just some of the many possible areas of application. caatoosee's iq-server is also ideally suited to the improvement of hit rates in connection with information searches in online shops and marketplaces as well as the qualification of information in the area of process automation.
caatoosee's iq-server 3.0 currently supports the following platforms: Windows, SunSolaris, Linux. It can be combined with various Web Application Servers (among others: IBM WebSphere BEA Weblogic), Relational Database Systems (such as IBM DB/2, Oracle 9i) and Messaging Systems (such as IBM WebSphereMQ and Tibco ActiveEnterprise).

iq-engine 3.0 for Full Text, Thesaurus and Whats Related searching
Another new product to be presented at this year's CeBIT is Version 3.0 of the caatoosee iq-engine. While caatoosee's iq-server is responsible for establishing access to information stored within systems and databases, its iq-engine handles the task of processing this information. Using the human body as a basis of comparison, the iq-server would represent the sense organs and the iq-engine would be comparable to the brain. caatoosee's iq-engine kicks off by indexing all the information supplied by the iq-server from various data sources. This could be unstructured data, such as e-mails or presentations, or structured data from a range of application systems. The software then creates mathematical patterns for the indexed information. Associative pattern matching shows the degree of similarity between the data. A high degree of similarity indicates a close match. The results are ranked in order of similarity and displayed to the user.
The iq-engine operates with Full Text indexing, Thesaurus and Whats Related. The Thesaurus can contain a range of freely definable relations such as synonyms, antonyms or translations. With the help of Whats Related various documents can be interlinked automatically, thus allowing users to identify related information. There are Application Program Interfaces (APIs) with JAVA and C++. Furthermore, COM objects are made available, which, for example, can be implemented in applications based on Visual Basic and Visual C++.

Web services for iq-technology
caatoosee's iq-technology features a level of scalability that is virtually unlimited. Moreover, it is highly flexible because components can run on different systems. The technology's leading-edge position is underscored by the inclusion of Web service support. This allows flexible, distributed applications to access caatoosee's iq-technologies on the basis on WSDL (Web Service Description Language) and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). These components are easily integrated into customers' application environments. Web services have a great deal of potential when it comes to information qualification. This is mainly due to the fact that such qualification functions offer tremendous opportunities in terms of enhancing the efficiency of applications from enterprise portals and content management to ERP systems by optimizing information and whittling it down to an appropriate level.
iq-solution for publishing houses
iq-solution for publishing is a prototype of an industry-specific solution for publishing houses and will be showcased by caatoosee's exhibition partners IBM and Microsoft in Hall 4. This vertical market software was developed specifically for the extensive archives of a major Hamburg-based publishing house; it is extremely fast, user-friendly and has a high level of error tolerance. caatoosee's iq-solution for publishing displays possible search-query matches ranked by the degree of similarity. Furthermore, with the click of a button users can select additional topics related to the original search query.

iq-solutions for Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes
caatoosee will also be presenting its error tolerant iq-solutions for MS Outlook and Lotus Notes at this year's CeBIT ideal for e-mail clients and groupware applications. With the help of iq-solution for MS Outlook e-mails stored in folders can be found in no time at all. iq-solution for Lotus Notes, on the other hand, qualifies information that is stored in e-mails or databases on Lotus Domino servers.
Product information system with Scopeland development environment
As a Certified Advantage Partner, caatoosee will be teaming up with Scopeland in Hall 3 (E 46) to present a product information system it developed for one of its SME clients. The main element of this information logistics solution is its ability to collate and structure relevant product information in a centralized manner. From design and development right through to marketing and sales the full range of product data is made available in a centralized, Web-based system. The application designed with Scopeland software is also able to cope with additional applets, thus underlining its high degree of flexibility and scalability when it comes to implementing future extensions. caatoosee's client now plans to integrate its international subsidiaries into the product information system.
